Group Purchasing and Resource Sharing
The Michigan Health Sciences Libraries
Association, in collaboration with the Michigan Library
Consortium, identifies and negotiates a variety of group
purchases for member libraries. Included below are a
few of those cost-saving products that may be of special
interest to those in health sciences libraries. Additional

NLM Duplicates Program
The MHSLA Resource Sharing Committee has been
collecting books from the National Library of Medicine's
Duplicates Program to distribute to interested MHSLA
Members. The Committee recently received another shipment
of free books. The list of titles is available here:
http://www.mhsla.org/members/purchasing/8-09NLMDupsList.doc.
These books are available to your libraries free of
charge - you don't even have to pay for shipping!
Please review the book list to see if any of these titles
would benefit your library. If you're interested in
receiving any of these books, please submit the following
in an email to Heidi Schroeder (hschroed@msu.edu): title(s)
of requested book(s), your library's name and address,
and the person in your library who should receive the
books. Titles will be reserved on a first come, first
served basis, although slight discretion may be used
to distribute books as fairly and evenly as possible.
If you request a title that has already been selected
by another MHSLA member, you will be contacted by phone
or e-mail. The deadline for requesting books is January 10th, 2008. Requested titles will be shipped as soon
as possible after the deadline.
If you have any questions about this program, please
contact the Resource Sharing Committee Chair, Heidi
Schroeder.

MISHULS Survey Results (2009)
Here are the results from the 2009 MISHULS Survey.
MISHULS
The Michigan Health Sciences Libraries Union
List of Serials. The National Library of Medicine's
DOCLINE and SERHOLD programs have made routine interlibrary
loan requesting faster and easier than ever. However,
many libraries experience situations where manual handling
is required. Whether the issue is equipment failure,
Internet server malfunction or a patient-care emergency,
having a print listing of library holdings can be a
life saver. For those occasions, MHSLA offers MISHULS.
